Edward Weston:
He started taking pictures at the age of 16 when he received a camera as a gift. He moved to California from Illinois, where he worked as a door to door photographer. Doing this he took pictures of children, pets, and funerals. He did that for two years before realizing he needed more formal training, so he went back to Illinois to go to college. After that he went and lived in Los Angeles working at Louis A. Mojoiner Portrait Studio, showing excellent skills in lighting and posing. He became extremely successful for his high-key portraits and modern dance studies. In 1926 he began his work, for which he is most successful,of natural forms, close-ups, nudes, and landscapes. The last photo that he took, before his death, was in 1948 of Point Lobos. Observations and opinions: All the pictures I have seen are black and white. They're showing a lot of contrast. I like his style of close up photography. Showing all the details. I also like his landscape pictures. They're so simple, but so beautiful. |
